Course Description

Students will acquire a hands-on experience with the basic functions of Camtasia Studio, a screen recording and video editing software product from TechSmith. The course will utilize a combination of readings, video tutorials, threaded discussions and projects to introduce students to the most common uses of Camtasia.

Project 1: Backward Design Presentation

We were each given an instructional design method to research and had to create a brief presentation about that method using Camtasia. I was given backward design to work with. Final Project: 

I created a tutorial that explained how to use the website Powtoon to create a video animation. We were given a maximum time limit of 10 minutes for this tutorial, which meant that I had to identify the most important features and go through the information at a steady pace. Overall, I think this came out very well. I found Camtasia to be a user-friendly development tool and enjoyed using it.

If I had to design this tutorial again, I would use more of the on-screen tools (arrows, boxes, etc.) that Camtasia offers to highlight the various areas on the screen as I explained them.
